Perfume, after-shave, bad breath, and body odors: There are all kinds of
smells in the workplace.
One reason people have such an emotional response to smell is that the part of
the brain that does the smelling, is intertwined with the system that governs
emotions. Some studies of bad smells found that odors accounted for an increase
in car accidents on California highways and an uptick of behavioral problems at
a school south of Chicago.
