It seems that retailers have tired of the conventional mall design where store fronts are inside the building.
They say more shoppers are drawn to store fronts that face the outside of the mall. Customers can park close to the store they want and go inside without walking through the entire building.
Because they are parked close by, customers can take packages from one store to their cars. Then they can go to another store, buy more, and repeat the process.
Adding to the attractiveness of new and reconstructed malls is a feature many shoppers enjoy. There is no roof on the common-area center section. Rather, shoppers emerge from stores into a relaxing area of gardens and benches.
